A little history
Descended from cats brought to Britain by the Romans, the British Shorthair was first standardized in Victorian cat shows. Its rounded features and dense blue-grey coat became the breed's signature, and it even inspired the Cheshire Cat.
Temperament
Calm, independent, and affectionate on its own terms, this breed enjoys company without being clingy.
