Maine Coon

The gentle giant

America's largest housecat pairs a luxuriously shaggy coat with a famously friendly, dog-like personality.

Maine Coon

A little history

Native to the chilly forests of Maine, the Maine Coon developed its water-resistant coat and tufted paws to survive harsh New England winters. Long a favorite barn cat for its mousing skills, it became one of the first breeds recognized in early American cat shows.

Temperament

Easygoing, playful, and remarkably people-loving, Maine Coons often follow their humans from room to room and tolerate handling well.
